2024 in Review

January started with a bang as we had big wedding in our family.  Brandon and Kathryn were married in NYC at the end of the month.  It was a beautiful weekend with several lovely events that allowed family and friends to meet and mingle.  There was a beautiful dusting of snow on Friday which added a touch of magic.  The wedding day was filled with hair, make-up, and photos.  The wedding was held in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church which has deep ties to Kathryn's family.  The rest of the celebrations were in the beautiful, historic Pierre Hotel just off Central Park.  A lot of work by Kathryn and her family was realized in a lovely dinner and dance.

If you've ever been involved in a remodel, I certainly hope it went better than the one on our bathroom  in Keystone.  Something that should have taken about six weeks turned into nine months and didn't turn out exactly as we had envisioned it. This meant that our annual July trip to Colorado was spent in a guest room with clothes being sourced daily out of boxes and various closets in the house.  All I can say is we now have a beautiful tub that we haven't gotten to use!

In May, we traveled to Japan for a photo workshop.  I'm totally in love!!!  This country is clean and organized and polite and everything you might want in civilized society.  We started in Tokyo and traveled around the country.  If you're interested, you can read about it at tlmjapan.blogspot.com. Put it on your bucket list, you won't be disappointed.

June brought a weeklong workshop in Tampa that threw everything you can imagine a photographer might encounter into five days.  It was intensive but educational and well worth the trip.  Later in the month we traveled to Belize to celebrate our friend's 50th birthday.  We kayaked and snorkeled during the day and turned every evening into a celebration of good friends.

I try to keep these letters light and fun and keep anything remotely serious to myself.  However, I feel I need to mention that we lost our attorney and good friend to a tragic scuba diving accident in June.  He loved life and lived it well.  Rest in peace Bob Hughes.

In September we visited Spain and Morocco, again for a photo workshop.  I highly recommend a visit to Seville if you ever find yourself in Spain.  Smaller and more relaxed than its bigger siblings Madrid and Barcelona, the sun is warm and the food inviting.  Chefaouen is known as the Blue City in Morocco and is a photographers dream.  I think it's my favorite of any place we've visited in Morocco.

Tulsa must have turned up on some list of must visits in 2024.  We've have had friends from Australia, England, and NYC share their travel time with us.  I hope they would all say it's a great place to visit and a very hospitable city.

In family news, our grandson Ethan started Kindergarten.  Jason continues his consulting business and Alexa her illustration business.  We have three new grand kitties and we lost our beloved Oliver last year right after Christmas.

I hope your world is filled with love and peace and joy.  Until next year....
